Even with all the things we know about the HIV virus, we still act fearful and disgusted when we learn about a person being HIV positive.
We know that HIV can’t be transmitted by touch, yet we fear to make contact with the diseased.
Janne Antin from Finland is HIV positive and he went out in the middle of the town square, put out a sign stating that fact and one other thing: “Touch me”. Then he stood there with eyes closed and hands raised.
His goal was to raise awareness of this deadly virus, to show how it was like living with it and to test just how much people have raised above the negative preconceptions from when little was known about the disease.
The people’s reaction moved him to tears. Watch what happened.
