Does a child being thrown off a train wile his parents are still inside talking and smiling sound like a good thing?

The storytelling and animation talents of CalArts BFA3 student Ning Cheng will certainly make you feel that it is.

In his latest short animation “Falling Tide”, just like in one of his previous work we’ve featured here, he once again shows how things are aren’t always what they seem, in a powerful, if not a bit morbid way.

At the begging of the animation, our heart goes out to the child being abandoned at a deserted trains station, desperately trying to go back inside where his parents are.

However, by the end you will feel bitter happiness that the child didn’t manage to get on the train?

To find out how and why, you’ll have to watch the video.
