With the release of Mists of Pandaria came a huge change to how PvP gear works in WoW. Blizzard implemented a new stat, PvP Power, which increases damage done to players, as well as healing done to players in PvP situations. Let me start off by saying that I like this change. It makes PvP gear the best for PvP, which seems like it is obviously a good thing. Though it has been fun in the past for players, myself included, to try to get powerful PvE items since they were really good for PvP as well, however the downside of this at some point PvE comes required for PvP players who want to succeed. However, there is some things I would like to change about this feature.

Personally, when I first heard about this change I was thrilled. Though I still like it, there was a part of it I thought Blizzard would implement that they have not yet. Maybe it is my own fault, but I saw the implementation of this feature, along with the ability to reforge items, and got excited. I connected the dots and thought Blizzard may allow us to reforge PvP Power into Resilience and vice versa.

Why did I get excited about this? Because in a way, it adds the same element of getting a powerful PvE item, without having to PvE a ton. Think about it. Why do players want PvE items in PvP? In order to deal a ton of damage, while sacrificing some survivability. This can be done by allowing players to reforge some of their Resilience into Power. Allowing players to do this will provide a new sense of strategy in higher end PvP. Does our team want to put out more damage? Or maybe have a little more survivability? This will allow there to be a lot more difference between teams as well. Just because you are playing against the same class composition as the games before, they may be reforged differently, allowing each team to feel unique, and ultimately increase the variety of arenas.

I love the new PvP Power and Resilience idea, however, in my eyes it seems half done. Allowing players to juggle these stats will add a new side to the strategy of arenas. It may be tricky to implement, since the way reforging works, you can only add stats that are not already on the item. But Blizzard could just add a new feature that works with this, they could even just name it PvP Reforging, since the name of these stats aren’t terribly creative in the first place. Anyway, my point is that I like this change, but I feel like if they looked more at it and allowed reforging between Power and Resilience, then PvP could possibly become a lot more interesting.
