The Gog Magog Hills

The Dog Magog Hills are a vast stretch of low chalk hills that are great to explore on a warm day and provide stunning views of the city and beyond – you can even see Ely on a clear day. It is also worth stopping off at the lovely Gog farm shop for a snack and a cup of tea while you catch your breath and take in the amazing views.

Stourbridge Common & Ditton Meadows

Cambridge is famous for the beautiful River Cam flowing through the heart of the city. There are many great ways to enjoy being near the water, but strolling through the peaceful countryside of Stourbridge Common and Ditton Meadows is a lovely idea and an opportunity to see the wildlife in the area.

Anglesey Abbey Dog Walk Trail

Those visiting with a furry friend have a number of excellent options, but none better than the superb Anglesey Abbey Dog Walk Trail which is an official dog walking trail. It is a short, varied and fun walk for the whole family which will provide great views of Lode Mill.

The Backs of the Colleges

Cambridge is, of course, famous for its historic university and no trip here is complete without seeing the university’s colleges and the perfectly maintained gardens. The Backs of the Colleges is widely regarded as one of the best walks in all of Britain which allows you to explore the landscaped open areas and gardens that are found behind this iconic institutions. This is also an easy walk to find as you can catch a train to the city centre and can then return on a train from Cambridge to Stevenage or another destination.

Waresley Wood

Nature lovers will want to visit Waresely Wood which is home to gorgeous ancient trees, wildflowers and all kinds of different wildlife. There are pathways designed to protect the stunning bluebells found here, so don’t forget to bring a camera.
