The team that run the company are passionate about travelling and living to sky-high standards and only use materials and parts from the most trusted sources to create their travel products. Travel is integral to the philosophy of the brand, and the team believe the world’s deep beauty when we experience travel-based mindfulness. The company’s products are renowned for their timelessness and include features that have maintained their appeal for decades.

Affordable luxury

No detail is too small to be regarded as important by the Monos team. Should the company find it impossible to find a part that meets their expectations, they work with market-leading industry specialists. Despite the elegance on offer, the company offers some of the most competitive prices on the market for luxury travel cases. One of the reasons that they can sell their products at these prices is that customer is able to go directly to them and cut out the middleman. Monos may use the same parts and materials as the best-known luxury luggage manufacturers, yet they can offer vastly superior value for money.

Strong human connections

The company’s relationships with its customers are treated with the utmost importance. According to Monos, powerful human connections are essential for quality B2B and B2C relations, satisfying travel experiences and maintaining high living standards. The company’s passion for excellence is evident in one of its slogans: “good is the enemy of great”. Monos’ cases have become a common sight at airports around the world.

The highest expectations

Monos only decided which manufacturers and factories to work with after meeting a series of candidates. Only a modest fraction of the companies they spoke to and visited were able to meet their expectations. The ones they did decide to work with were chosen because of their attention to detail, craftsmanship and expertise. Every time a Monos Carry-On is finished, it is personally inspected by the company CEO Colin before it reaches the customer.

Reimaging the travel case

The team have worked in a highly innovative manner to ensure their products stand out from the crowd and deliver features that can’t be found elsewhere. The traditional telescopic handle has been expertly reworked, with cast zinc being exchanged for high-grade aluminium and the telescopic assembly re-designed to cut lateral and torsional movement. To achieve a better ergonomic standard, the handle release button was moved to the underside of the case. The changes were made to optimise ease-of-use, reliability and aesthetic appeal.x

Virtually unbreakable

The luggage cases are vacuum-formed with aerospace-grade German Makrolon polycarbonate. Not only is this material incredibly lightweight but it is also almost impossible to break. This is one reason why the cases are so resistant to impact and so adept at springing back into shape. The cases also boast Hinomoto Lisof Silent Run wheels. These wheels are renowned for their performance, almost silent operation and durability. They are the result of collaborative work between the Japanese manufacturer Hinomoto itself and Mitsubishi. Tough, anti-bacterial and waterproof 350 denier polyester fabric is used for the interiors.

40 tests per case

Monos carry out a stunning 40 different tests to ensure their cases meet the expectations of the public and the company itself. These tests are designed to ensure the cases can withstand even the most challenging of travel conditions. Tests for everything from stiffness and colour fastness to tensile strength are carried out.

Tumble tests and more

The tumble test sees the case loaded with a 16kg weight before it is added to a rotating chamber that simulates the type of high drops, rough handling and hard impacts it might be faced with during travel. The cases are angled and rolled on a specialised bumped treadmill to simulate uneven terrain during the mileage test. The case is dropped from a substantial height and stopped by the telescopic handle during the telescopic handle jerk test. In the drop test, the case is stored at -12°C for several hours before it is loaded with a weight up to 25kg and dropped onto a number of corners, edges and surfaces.

Designed to last

More and more discerning travellers are choosing Monos over the competition when they require robust luxury travel products that will serve them well for years to come. The professionals at Monos are as passionate about travel as the customers they target and aim to help them create unforgettable, stress-free experiences.
