In 2016, more than three-quarters of Americans were online.

As more people connected to the world wide web, companies became more interested in their habits while they’re online. One of the ways in which they get insight into those habits is computer cookies.

Cookies are simply a piece of data that’s stored on your computer so a website can store your browser history. But cookies can also cause security problems, so it’s not a good idea to leave them stored on your computer for long.

Luckily, there’s a fast and easy way to get rid of the cookies stored on the computer. Keep reading to learn more about how to clear cookies on my computer.

Determine Your Web Browser

A web browser is an applicaion that you use to surf the internet. The most common browsers are Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Apple Safari. You’ll need to know which web browser you use in order to clear your cookies.

Google Chrome has three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of your browser. Those three horizontal lines are what you’re going to use to clear your cookies.

The logo design for Mozilla Firefox is a brown fox wrapped around a blue globe. You can’t always find it in your browser window. You can head to the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of your browser, click “Help”, and look for the “About Firefox” information to be sure that’s the browser you’re using.

Internet Explorer is a blue, lower-case “e”. Look for this logo on the left side of the URL bar (i.e. where you type the web address that you want to visit).

If you’re running a Mac product, it came with Apple Safari. This browser has yellow, green, and red lights in the upper left corner. It also has an Apple logo on the toolbar at the very top of the screen.
