The United Kingdom is known to have something to offer everyone. Family visits and holidays are no different. The UK has a beautiful family culture that is well-rooted in its values and morals. For this reason, many parents prefer travelling to the UK with their children, pets, and other family members. Apart from just having some pubs and a few parks, the UK has amusement parks, child-friendly destinations, and so much more.

When travelling to the UK, you should ensure that all the paperwork and documentation is taken care of. With the pandemic, you should also check in advance that the areas and places you are visiting are safe for kids and senior citizens. We would advise contacting well-known immigration solicitors in Aberdeen to ensure you have all the documentation, passports, visas, and insurances ready and updated in case of emergencies.

Once you have everything taken care of, you should book a ticket to the UK. While booking your tickets, select the closest airport for the start of your trip. Based on the itinerary you choose, you can start your journey from one airport, travel the country, and then depart for home from another one.

London, England:

At the top of all holiday destinations in the UK is always the capital, London. The capital city is a playground for children of all ages. You can travel to London as a family, with senior citizens, pets, kids, and all your uncles and aunts, and still have a jolly good time. The best part about London is its fabulous London Eye. Families wait in line to get a chance to travel atop the London Eye and see the city’s marvels from a bird’s eye view.

London is also the home to Harry Potter World, Kidzania at the Westfield Shopping Centre, London Zoo, and the Sea Life Aquarium. The London Zoo at Regent’s Park has been a much-visited attraction for years, and you can never get bored. If sightseeing is the aim, you can buy passes for one of the many hop-on-hop-off buses around London, go see Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, and visit the Tower of London.

London has some of the world’s best foodie hotspots and plenty of pubs to run out of all your vacation days. If you want to take a break from the kids and their entertainment, you can head to the nearest pub for a pint and some great music.

Manchester, England:

Manchester does have a lot more to offer than just football and music. There are several free museums, indoor fun activities for children, outdoor play areas, and pet and family-friendly restaurants and cafes. The Science and Industry Museum is a hot-favourite with children since it is home to the world’s first railway warehouse and the oldest surviving passenger train.

If you and your family are dinosaur fans, head to the Manchester Museum to see the huge, life-size T-Rex skeleton! Like London, Manchester also has a Sea Life Aquarium. The bonus with Manchester is the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, where you feel like you’re entering the LEGO world and have shrunk in size. Even if your family isn’t a fan of football, we advise you to visit Old Trafford at least once and visit the Manchester United Museum and Stadium Tour.

Glasgow, Scotland:

Glasgow has some beautiful nature trails and a chance to breathe in the fresh air. What it also has are some awesome free things. You can walk the streets of Glasgow with family and view some fabulous art, or visit some of the free museums for a history lesson, and allow the kids a free run in one of the many outdoor entertainment activities. You should buy passes on the city sightseeing bus, and soak in the city. Once you have seen everything, you can decide where you would like to go next.

When in Glasgow, you should get off the bus at the Riverside Museum (transport museum). Children can easily climb on the historic trains and old trams. You can also cross over to the Govan Stones for history lessons on Vikings. Apart from the prominent places, you should make a stop at the Botanic Gardens, Glasgow Mural Trail, and pretend that the University of Glasgow (cloisters) is Hogwarts from Harry Potter.

Other family-friendly places in the UK are Edinburgh in Scotland and Cambridge and Oxford in England. You can also visit St. David’s in Wales and travel to Ramsey Island to see the puffins during nesting season. If your family are football fans, you should set your itinerary around London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol, Manchester, Sheffield, and Cardiff.
