Living The Freedom Lifestyle As A Remote Worker

Everyone dreams of living the dream lifestyle, sitting back on a beach somewhere, working only a few hours a week, living a retiree’s life while being young.

Let’s call that dream the freedom lifestyle.

While some of that lifestyle is achievable, the truth is that there is a ton of work required to make anything near that dream a reality.

The truth is, a small percentage can live by barely working, automating their work, income, and lifestyle as a result. And those few that succeed have had to give up a lot and work their tails off in the process. But, of course, a little luck and timing didn’t hurt them either.

The truth is, living as a remote worker is just that, living as a worker. Unless you create a hugely successful business or digital good, it takes a lot of time, dedication, and work to achieve the freedom lifestyle promised.

Working remotely used to be a rarity, but for various reasons, the trend of remote and hybrid work is becoming more the norm. In fact, it’s estimated that in 2022, over 25% of workers will be either fully remote or in some form of a hybrid work environment.

Ways To Make An Income Online

The dream to work for oneself and remotely then is one that many people share, and some are already a part of making it a reality.

The power of the internet is that it has a global reach, 24 hours a day, 7-days a week. As a result, the opportunity to reach people, especially those in a position to make a purchasing decision, has never been greater.

Whether it’s to purchase a good or service, the opportunity to reach people through the internet has created a chance that people in a different time would never have dreamed of.

Freelance Work: Depending on your skills and desire, you can take on various work as a freelancer. Content writer, marketing, blogging (more on that later), Social Media Manager, photographer, and more are all things you can do to make money remotely.

Most freelance positions don’t take a lot of education to achieve, and if you have the moxie to pursue them, you can work around whatever agreement you and your clients agree upon.

Just keep in mind that you’re doing multiple jobs as a freelancer simultaneously. You have to perform the client work that you’ve agreed to take on, billing and receiving (i.e., getting paid), and in most cases, handle all the prospecting and marketing to find the next job.

Some sites can assist you as a freelancer, from job boards to marketing for freelancers and virtual assistants, that can aid you with some administrative work.

Sell Digital Products: Selling a digital product requires a lot of time, energy, and patience to see it come to fruition.

Digital products can be a service such as a site specializing in a particular entertainment or another service such as building a sports betting NJ site for sports fans, or you can make a product to help people who want to make a positive lifestyle change.

Too often, people think that offering a digital product is an automatic way to make income online. In truth, it takes a dedicated following, a product priced at an excellent selling point, and must offer something of value above and beyond what is readily available online.

One way to pivot with a digital product is to consider selling an online course in a specific area that you have some experience of. You don’t need to be a Ph.D. to sell an online course. You simply need to know that you can wrap up as a course to help others find the right audience to pitch it.

Blogging: Blogging has a lot of versatility in making income. With a blog, you can pitch your goods and services, sell as an affiliate for other products, or have ad revenue from ads placed throughout your site with enough traffic.

The problem with striving for a digital nomad type of life and achieving the freedom lifestyle is that it takes a lot of time, energy, and dedication to make it happen.

The myth of digital work being a four-hour-work week is just that, a tale (for most).

Too often, people think that having an idea, working online a couple of hours a day or week, and selling goods and services online is simple.

Instead, it takes an understanding of reaching an audience, creating trust with them, and motivating them to purchase what you are offering.

It’s not impossible, but like any business, it takes time and a little luck to see it happen as you hope.
