This week was full of plenty of rumors and some welcome news: Valve is reaching out to gamers to establish some kind of GameFAQs competitor, the Assassin’s Creed series may have another game in development already, and Bioshock will be receiving a reversible cover. If you’re a millionaire (or maybe just a little rich), there’s also a new deal on the market you might be interested in: the entire Super Nintendo library, in their boxes and in mint condition, for a paltry $25,000. Yes, internet, that was sarcasm if you couldn’t hear it. But hey, it’s probably worth it, and the rest of us can stick to emulators.
Raptr also announced the year’s annual game play statistics, with some titles holding more honor than the greatest VGA could grant, including Game With the Fewest Bathroom Breaks (Borderlands 2, in case you were wondering). I was pretty surprised to see Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beat out League of Legends and Skyrim in the highest amount of time spent playing a pre-2012 game, but perhaps that just shows who really drives the gaming market.
Unfortunately, there is a bit of bad news to go with this week. Machinima cut their staff by 10%, and their cuts mainly affected their editorial staff. I just have to hope I can continue watching Two Best Friends play after they finish restructuring their company.
