Smiteguru is a website designed to help players of Smite, a free-to-play game. Smite is a free, third-person multiplayer online battle arena video game. It was developed and published by Hi-Rez studios for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
There is no cost when you start to play. Yes, there are some microtransactions, but they are mostly cosmetic and many can be unlocked via play. The characters, called Gods, can be earned through play or unlocked with Favor, an in-game currency.
And if you want to find a build that will help you win more games, Smiteguru has some strategies, tactics, and builds for progressing in the game.
How big is the website?
There are more than 17 million players registered on Smiteguru. Does that seem a lot to you? If you dig further, there are more than 100,000 matches every day.
The moment you visit the website, you can see how many matches have been played on that day, and how many stats have been processed.
Is the build section relevant and good to use?
Fans often ask whether the builds section is relevant and good to use. Yes, with so many users, there are always up-to-date and relevant builds. They are often updated and good for new players and even experienced ones.
Now, what you have to understand is that the build and your success depend a lot on the god you choose to play. Warriors and guardians are hard to gauge and get a perfect build because they are meant to counter build on what you are up against.
Then you have Smite gods that can do multiple roles. For example, some gods can solo or support, and sometimes jungle.
You do not have to use the builds precisely, but they give you an idea of what kind of items you need to get at least. For example, Anubis and lifesteal, or Artemis and crit items, or Bakasura and AS.
How to create a guide?
The Smiteguru website is not designed only for beginners to find a new build. It is also a good place for experienced players to share their builds. If you want to create a build, start by clicking on guides at the top of the website.
Then, on the right side, you will notice a create build. From there, a pop-up will open, called guide creation.
You have to select your Smite God to continue. As you probably know, there are many different Smite gods. They range from Greek, Maya, Chinese, roman, Celtic, Japanese, Slavic, voodoo, Polynesian, Arthurian, assassin, mage, warrior, guardian, hunter, Hindu, Egyptian, Norse, Yoruba, great old ones, and many more.
If you have already logged into your account, you will be taken to the builds creation page. If not, once you select your desired God, the website will take you to a place where you need to create an account.
What are the tierlists?
Any player can create a tierlist as well. These are lists of popular Gods. And let’s be honest, they are all subjective. Basically, you rank the Gods you would love to play. Whether they are good, great, or any other ranking.
For example, let’s say you have Persephone, Geb, Baba Yaga, and Atlas ranked as SS, which would be the highest. Then you have the best picks, ranked S+, and there, you put Agni, Artio, Merlin, Horus, Sol, Ares, Khepri, and Change.
You continue with a decent tier, ranked S, where you have put Medusa, Ganesha, Cupid, Athena, Mulan, Morgan Le Fay, and Ne Zha. These are all subjective picks. The last tiers are usually very good and good. Those are usually Gods you would play if everything else above is taken.
Smite the Game
As we said before, Smite is a free-to-play and third-person multiplayer online battle arena video game. The MOBA video game came out in 2014, developed and published by Hi Rez Studios.
Players control a god, goddess, or other mythological figure and take part in team-based combat. During the game, players use the abilities of the gods and their tactics against other player-controlled gods. They also combat non-player-controllable minions.
There are different player versus player modes, playable characters, and more. Thanks to the many different PVP modes, Smite has had a successful esports scene with multiple tournaments. The annual million-dollar Smite World Championship is the biggest eSports event for this video game.
How to Play Smite?
As we said before, there are different modes you can play. And you need a different build for each mode. Something that worked for one situation, will not work for another game mode. This is why we said previously that while the Smiteguru builds work, they are not to be taken at face value. You can always modify them as you learn more and become better at the game.
The largest game mode of Smite is Conquest. Players can choose between training, custom, co-op with clan or friends, normal, and ranked play styles. From there, you choose any of the standard game options. Sometimes, there are special event games with unique rules. For example, unlimited gold.
No matter what game mode you choose, you start by choosing a character, or a God to play. There are different pantheons, including Babylonian, Celtic, Greek, Hindu, Japanese, Slavic, Yoruba, Chinese, Celtics, Norse, and many more.
Each character in the Smite game is classified as one of the following classes: guardian, hunter, mage, assassin, or warrior. Unless there are special rules, two players on the same team cannot choose the same character. In competitive mode and draft pick method, each player must use a different character.
And if you have played RPG raid configuration game before, the best team configurations usually include tank, healer, and physical/magical damage characters.
Speaking of game content, Conquest is the most popular and largest mode. It is the default game mode for any MOBA like Smite or League of Legends. Conquest is a three-lane map based on Warcraft III’s Defense of the Ancients map.
Players are formed into two teams with five players on each team, and all begin at opposite sides of a map at their team’s fountain. Each player is granted an equal amount of gold at the beginning and then earns money for kills and more.
The goal of the game is to destroy the other team’s base. In this case, the opposite team’s Phoenixes and the Titan, a giant warrior who must be defeated to win the game.
Smite also offers options like Joist, Slash, Assault, and Arena. Joist is similar to Conquest, but each team has three players and only one lane with a jungle on each side.
Slash resembles the previous two game modes but has two lanes with five players on each team. Assault is a one-lane with random gods assigned to each player.
And of course, Arena, a game mode with no towers or titans. Phoenixes cannot be attacked, they defend team bases. Each team has five players in an open arena.
The matchmaking of Smite uses a modified version of the TrueSkill ranking system. In December 2013, the game added an option for players to choose between US and EU serves. Yet, it was quickly removed due to issues with the matchmaking system.
