With the summer months heating up, both literally and metaphorically, many people are rushing to explore the various different types of outdoorsy entertainment the season has to offer.
However, just because there are plenty of things to do outside doesn’t mean we can’t have fun indoors, too. So, whether you’re looking to hide from the often excessive heat, you want to take a break from the beach, or you’re reading this after the summer season has ended, here are our seven suggestions for great indoor activities for adults.
1. Board Games
Yes, board games aren’t just for kids! Whether we’re talking about stuff like Monopoly, Carcassonne, or Exploding Kittens or whether you’d go the role-playing route with games such as D&D, board games are a fantastic and quite social indoor activity for any season.
2. Reading
If you’re tired of all the outdoor social gatherings common for this season, no other type of solitary indoor activity has stood the test of time better than good ol’ reading.
An excellent way to recharge your batteries until the next social event, get some enjoyable alone time, and establish a great new habit, reading never goes out of fashion.
3. Online Dating
Dating is typically a pretty social and outdoorsy activity. After all, it’s difficult to meet a stranger at home.
Or is it? It certainly doesn’t need to be, as you can find a date whenever you want online.
Want to meet a lesbian on Taimi or a straight partner on any other dating app? The possibilities are endless. Thanks to online dating, you can easily meet new people without getting up from the couch.
Yes, you likely will eventually want to go on an in-person date, but if you’re feeling like spending some time at home while also meeting new people, online dating is an excellent way to do both.
4. Group Movie/Show Watching
Watching a movie or a TV show at home doesn’t need to be a solitary activity (unless you want it to be, of course). Instead, just like board games or going to the movie theatre with friends, watching something at home can be a genuine social event.
Throw some popcorn in the microwave, get a few drinks, and you can easily have the best weekend of the season with your friends at home, binging a favorite show or a cool movie.
5. Indoor Gardening
If you’re looking for something a bit different that’s both relaxing and will help you improve your home’s interior design, indoor gardening is a fantastic hobby to try out.
It’s a well-known fact that having more greenery at home reduces stress and improves our health, but what’s often skipped is that the very act of working on your indoor garden is exceptionally relaxing and fun in and of itself.
6. Workout
If you want to get in shape but hate going to the gym, the simplest solution is to have gym time at home.
This doesn’t mean buying a whole lot of gym equipment either – it’s usually more than enough to just get a yoga mat and a pair of dumbbells, and you’re all set!
7. Handicraft
There are all sorts of handicrafts one can learn and practice at home as a cool and relaxing hobby.
From toying with paper flowers and textile dyeing to learning how to make resin and polymer clay jewelry or ceramics, indoor handicrafts are a very enjoyable way to spend your alone time.
Plus, you can get to make new and awesome decorations for your home too!
Naturally, there are lots of other cool things to do at home – various DIY projects, cooking and baking, taking online classes, and much more. Spending time at home absolutely doesn’t need to be or feel “wasted!”
