If you like realistic hunting games you’ve probably heard of The Hunter: Call of the Wild. It’s a game that stands out with its open-world and tracking animals across different terrain. But like many of you out there you’re wondering “Can I play with my friends on other platforms?” Cross-platform play is a hot topic and people want to play with friends no matter what device they’re on. Let’s get into what the crossplay situation looks like for The Hunter: Call of the Wild in 2024.

Cross-Platform Play

As of now the answer is no—The Hunter: Call of the Wild doesn’t support cross-platform play across different console systems or between consoles and PC. So if you’re playing on Xbox you won’t be able to hunt with a friend who’s playing on PlayStation or PC. The only exception is for PC players; if you’re on Steam or Epic Games you can play together. But outside of that PC-to-PC connection there’s no broader crossplay feature.

PC Cross-Platform

If you’re a PC player there’s some good news. The game allows crossplay between Steam and Epic Games users. So if your friend bought the game on Steam and you got it through the Epic Games Store you can still play together. This small bit of crossplay unites the PC gaming community but it’s still a limited feature compared to what many other games have today.

Console Compatibility

Unfortunately it gets a bit more restrictive when it comes to consoles. Whether you’re on PlayStation or Xbox you’re stuck playing with others on the same platform. So PlayStation players can’t play with Xbox players and vice versa. The developers haven’t added crossplay support for these systems so the gaming communities are separate. For those of you who have friends on different consoles this can be a bummer.

Community

The lack of cross-platform play has been a hot topic online. Many players have been asking for crossplay and wanting to play with friends no matter what device they have. Some players are fine with just playing with their own platform’s community while others see the lack of crossplay as a missed opportunity to make the game even better. You’ll find posts on forums and social media from players hoping the developers will add this feature someday.

Cross-Platform Play Future

So what’s the future look like? As of 2024 there hasn’t been any official word from the developers Expansive Worlds about adding crossplay. While they continue to release updates, new content and bug fixes there hasn’t been much said about connecting players across different systems. But with the industry moving more towards crossplay there’s always a chance they might revisit this in the future. Fingers crossed!

Conclusion

In summary The Hunter: Call of the Wild is a game where you can get lost in a beautiful realistic hunting experience. But if you were hoping to play with friends across different systems you’re out of luck—at least for now. PC players on Steam and Epic Games can play together but that’s not the case for console players. It’s a bummer for some but the game is still great on each platform and who knows maybe the future will bring us the crossplay we’ve been asking for. Until then happy hunting!
