Yup! It is that time of the year!
On Thursday, April 24, TIME magazine released its list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World.
As you can see in the title, few celebrities made the list.
There are 5 categories of this year’s most influential people: Titans, Pioneers, Artists, Leaders and Icons.
For you, we chosed the 8 A-List celebrities that made the rankings this year.
Let’s go:
Robert Redford – The godfather of indie film
“He’s a renaissance man dressed like a cowboy, and he had the balls to go round for round with Paul Newman on a series of practical jokes that my word limitation and TIME won’t permit me to include, but they were as hilarious as they were historic.” – By Harvey Weinstein
Robert Redford was honored with the “Icons” category.
Kerry Washington – The actor who projects strength amid scandal
“In a world that too often tells little girls to choose between womanhood and success, between femininity and a seat at the head of the table, both onscreen and off Kerry Washington embodies the promise that lives in all our young people to shape their own destinies and succeed as “gladiators” for the causes in which they believe.” – By Valerie Jarrett
Amy Adams – The cinematic chameleon
“There’s a certain mystique about Amy that helps the audience go with her on this chameleon of a career, from Enchantedto The Fighter to American Hustle. And I don’t think she’s discovered her full bag of tricks even yet.” – By Emily Blunt
Robin Wright – The actress who beams a light on Washington’s dark corners
“I remember her fragility and depth in early performances. She was mesmerizing. In person, I was struck by how bright and bold she was — girlish and delicate but also full of spunk and fire. Her wild intensity beams extraordinary light — it bleeds into every actor she works with and audience member who watches her.” – By Naomi Watts
Beyoncé – She’s the boss
‘In the past year, Beyoncé has sold out the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour while being a full-time mother. Her secret: hard work, honesty and authenticity. And her answer to the question, What would you do if you weren’t afraid? appears to be “Watch me. I’m about to do it.” Then she adds, “You can, too.” – By Sheryl Sandberg
Pharrell Williams – The performer whose sound now blankets the world
“That’s what Pharrell does. He injects that vibrant energy into the music in a way that you can feel. Whether it’s the chord changes that remind you of another time or the melody that instantly grabs you, you are transported to another place. You smile, you dance, you clap along. His music actually does make you happy.
Maybe that’s why he still looks younger than the rest of us. Yep … Pharrell Williams is having way too much fun. And I don’t know about you, but I hope he never stops.” – By Justin Timberlake
Yao Chen – A Chinese superstar with an activist streak
‘She has opined on everything from the effect on her young child of China’s poisoned environment — choking smog, foul water and a toxic food chain — to the brave stand of a Chinese newspaper battling state censors. Last year she even quoted Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn: “One word of truth shall outweigh the whole world.” Or perhaps one gulp of China’s polluted air.’ – By Hannah Beech
Miley Cyrus – The pop provocateur
“…I’m hoping that now she can relax and show people how talented she really is. ’Cause the girl can write. The girl can sing. The girl is smart. And she doesn’t have to be so drastic. But I will respect her choices. I did it my way, so why can’t she do it her way?” By Dolly Parton
Are you surprised?
Beyonce and Pharrell were named “Titans” – alongside figures like Pony Ma and Hillary Clinton.
Thats it…if you enjoyed this list as much as us, share it with your friends.
Thank you.
