The Electronic Entertainment Expo has passed, but the gaming industry will still be offering a lot more at this year’s upcoming 2014 Comic-Con International. The schedule for this year’s convention has been released, and we now have a good scope at what games will be previewed and showcased this year. Below are some of my most anticipated games to be featured and highlighted at the convention this year.

5. Halo: The Master Chief Collection

The Halo games are getting a nice upgrade and fresh coat of paint with The Master Chief Collection. The remastered compilation set will also feature a spotlight panel at Comic-Con this year featuring 343 Industries’ Dan Ayoub, Dennis Ries and Frank O’Conner.

4. Battlefield Hardline

After making a strong impression earlier this summer at E3, Electronic Arts and Visceral Games will be showing off more of Battlefield Hardline at Comic-Con International. Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis will be on hand as well to talk about this bold, new direction for the Battlefield franchise featuring cops vs. robbers. The panel will showcase new footage from the game’s single-player campaign. This is nice because only the multiplayer experience was really shown at E3.

3. Mass Effect 4

There were some small hints at the new Mass Effect at E3 2014. Comic-Con 2014 will feature an entire dedicated panel for the next installment of the beloved sci-fi videogame franchise. Developers Carl Boulay, Fabrice Condominas, Mike Gamble, Noel Lukasewich and Jessica Merizan will be hand to talk about the next game. However, I wonder if there will be a live Q&A session and if fans will ask about what happened with the ending of Mass Effect 3.

2. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

The exciting, open-world RPG action game based on The Lord of the Rings franchise will have its own panel at Comic-Con this year. Monolith Productions developers will be on hand alongside lead writer, Christian Cantamessa, and voice actor, Troy Baker (the voice of Talion). Surprises and revelations are promised for the panel. I got to sit in on the behind-closed-doors, first-look only video presentation for the game at E3, and I was impressed with what I saw. A new video hints that Gollum is a featured character in the game. I cannot wait to learn more.

1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3 dominated E3 for many viewers, and this year at Comic-Con, CD Projekt Red plans to continue its huge push toward its final entry in The Witcher franchise. The CD Projekt Red developers plan on debuting a never-before-seen demo during the panel, which will also include Geralt of Rivia’s voice actor Doug Cockle. The Witcher 3 looks tremendous, and I hope the new demo will provide some greater story insight in Geralt’s quest.

  1. Is Arkham Knight getting a panel? Seems like a great time to at least have a little q&a….also, here’s to another year hoping that Marvel’s media panel announces a true new quality console game instead of another endless runner for iOS or another expansion for the Marvel Heroes MMO…The text did say that there would be a new game announcement, but I’m not holding my breath. Love to see a quality studio of Rocksteady caliber tackle a true game experience instead of the endless movie tie in’s that Marvel have been so fond of. Moon Knight would be my pick, if a dev were to just read Ellis’ series I’m sure that’s all the inspiration they’d need to cook up something cool….Waid’s Daredevil would be amazing too, lot of opportunities for cool tricks involving his radar senses.

    1. As of now, no it isn’t. I think they just might mix in some Arkham Knight material in the Batman panels.
