Admittedly, most of these are third-party characters—but that hasn’t stopped Sony from adding Big Daddy or Dante to the current roster. Here is a handful of characters that we’ll be likely to see in Playstation All-stars, starting with…

7. Ico (Ico)

Before Playstation All-Stars was announced, images of two characters ended up leaking across the net. One of these images was a model for a character very similar to Yorda, and beside it was an image reference of Yorda—which means we’ll probably see her in the game. However, I think Ico would be the more likely playable character, since Yorda has no proper melee moves of her own. I could see Ico being the playable melee character and Yorda appearing when he uses a super move.

6. Kat (Gravity Rush)

Kat’s usual melee approach to situations would transition well into the PS All-Stars game. The gravity mechanics would probably be impossible to implement, but perhaps giving her stronger abilities a charge time where she floats in the air could emulate this.

5. Amaterasu (Okami)

Amaterasu has already made her appearance in the fighting game Marvel vs Capcom 3, and she proved that she can hold her own against the other bipedal characters with her flashy elemental moves and brush strokes. If you take out Okami’s usual brush mechanics, she’s a perfect fit for a well-rounded melee character and can dish out quite a beating. Although she’s not at the top of this list, this is the character I want to see in the game the most!

4. Miku Hinasaki (Fatal Frame)

Miku would be the most interesting out of this list to see—although her game is technically an action game filled with battles, you could hardly see her bringing that camera to a fight with living characters. Nonetheless, a character from the Fatal Frame series would be a welcome addition to the roster, and she might be able to take pictures with her Camera Obscura for long-range damage.

3. Spyro (Spyro the Dragon)

Spyro has appeared on almost every Sony console, and he probably deserves an appearance in the game more than any other third-party character. It would also be fun to have a character that glides—Spyro would have a huge range on any playing field and be able to deal damage on the move with his fire breathing abilities.

2. Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII)

While she may not be the most popular roster choice, Lightning will be getting her own entry in the FFXIII series in the form of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, and her appearance would be good advertising for the game. The turn-based battles of FF13 show that she can at least take a beating, and combined with her sword  play she might be a candidate for a slower, stronger enemy (similar to Snake in Super Smash Bros Brawl).

1. Sora (Kingdom Hearts)

Although Disney owns the rights to the Disney worlds and characters in the Kingdom Hearts series, Square Enix retained the rights to their Final Fantasy characters, along with—you guessed it—Sora. Sora could have an interesting blend of aerial and ground combat (in the Kingdom Hearts games, half the battle takes place while Sora is jumping, afterall), although he’d probably end up on the lighter end of the character scales.

  1. Great list! I hope you’re right and we do see at least some of these characters.

I’d like to see Oliver and/or Drippy from Ni No Kuni, although this may be unlikely as the game doesn’t release in the US until early next year and Studio Ghibli holds the rights. Still, in terms of home consoles the game is Playstation-exclusive.
