Disney Interactive did well in adding characters of the Marvel pantheon for Disney Infinity 2.0. It was a smart move to take advantage of Marvel characters for a toy box type game with Disney properties of all types for fans to enjoy. For starters, Disney Infinity 2.0 will feature Marvel playsets based on The Avengers feature, the Guardians of the Galaxy feature and the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. With Disney Infinity 2.0 due out September, I want to examine some essential Marvel characters that I would like Disney Interactive to add to the game.

HONORABLE MENTION: Ant-Man

The Ant-Man character is about to be featured in his own theatrical film. With that in mind, it makes sense to take advantage of Disney Infinity 2.0’s popularity to feature the character in the game. It is not necessary for him to get his own playset like Spider-Man, the Guardians and the Avengers; but at least he should get some type of figurine. Considering Disney Interactive features a Guardians playset and an Angelina Jolie version of Maleficent, a movie version of Ant-Man for the game makes sense.

5. Winter Soldier

Captain America’s one-time sidekick, Bucky Barnes, was kidnapped and brainwashed by the bad guys and transformed into the Winter Soldier. In the comics, he eventually breaks free of the evil brainwashing and becomes a vigilante. Later, he even takes on the role of Captain America when Steve Rogers is believed to be dead. Winter Soldier already has a Power Disc for the game. He should get his own dedicated figurine next, considering he was featured in one of the most popular movies of 2014.

4. She-Hulk

It is time for additional female Marvel heroes to be added to the mix of Disney Infinity, besides Gamora and Black Widow. The game already has the Hulk, so I would like to see She-Hulk thrown in next. She is a great character who would add a lot of fun to the game.

3. Phil Coulson

The SHIELD agent turned director of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become one of the biggest stars of the entire franchise. Not only that, the character has crossed over into animation and comics as well. Nick Fury has his own figurine for Disney Infinity 2.0, so at some point, Coulson should get his own.

2. Thanos

Disney Interactive is already planning villains for each of the Avengers, Guardians and Spider-Man playsets with Loki, Ronan the Accuser and Green Roblin, respectively. The Spider-Man playset already has Venom. So, Disney Interactive should incorporate the big bad and Mad Titan known as Thanos to the game with his own figurine. Thanos is being built up as the big bad of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after appearances in The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. He is also set to appear as a major villain in the Avengers Assemble animated show. Now it is time to give him a role in Disney Infinity 2.0 as well.

1. Wolverine

Wolverine is really a no-brainer for this game. He is one of Marvel’s premiere franchise characters. As far as I know, there are no rights issues that prevent Wolverine from being used in a Disney Infinity video game. Disney and Marvel should have all the video game rights to the character. Why not use the version of Wolverine from the animated Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk and the Agents of SMASH shows, voiced by Steven Blum, for the game? Once you mix in the mutant who is the best at what he does, the money will pour in.
