2K Games has revealed the details of MyCareer Mode for the upcoming WWE 2K15 release. Certain details were already well known beforehand. Fans knew that WWE’s developmental program, WWE NXT, would be featured in the game. Essentially, players are able to take a wrestler from the start of his/her career from NXT to the main event at WrestleMania. 2K Games modeled the gameplay mode off of MyCareer mode for the NBA 2K franchise. Unfortunately, that means that players are only allowed to use a create-a-wrestler variant or CAW for MyCareer Mode. Actual current roster Superstars are not available. The non-utilization of current roster Superstars for something like a MyCareer Mode has become tiresome, and I wish sports and sports entertainment games would abandon the practice.

There is nothing wrong with CAWs or 2K Games using a character created in a Creation Suite. However, sometimes I would rather use an existing Superstar instead of a created one. In general, while CAW options have improved over the years, I still prefer the in-game character models. I want to take Daniel Bryan through MyCareer mode and not a created Daniel Bryan.

This issue has spread to MMA games as well. EA Sports UFC has the same issue for Career Mode. Sometimes I do not want to use a created character. I want to use an existing one and take that character through the adventures of the Career Mode. Why is this a problem? I once tried to explain my desire to developers of EA Sports MMA. They looked at me like I had two heads. When UFC Undisputed 3 came out, current roster fighters were playable for the Career Mode.

To be fair, the WWE 2K15 MyCareer Mode is not a total loss. The inclusion of NXT, real-life trainer and former WWE Superstar Bill DeMott is really cool; not to mention all the other NXT Superstars who will be in the game: Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn and Corey Graves, to name a few. Even Vickie Guerrero is confirmed for the game as the General Manager of NXT. These are all great additions for the gameplay. I like the feature that, as a wrestler, players will progress to NXT to the main WWE roster to competing for titles on pay-per-view events. All that is great, but why does it have to always be done with a CAW?

WWE 2K15 is due out October 28 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, featuring MyCareer Mode, hit the shelves on November 18.

    1. This.

MyCareer is definitely for created players. Using actual players, you’d already be at the top. Plus, a potential negative is that they’d have to voice over ALL of the superstars for the potential of playing as them in MyCareer. Too much money, too little time.

    2. To each his own, however, I will not shut up about it, and I will especially not follow the orders of a poorly written, rude comment such as this.

  1. They would have to do voice over for every superstar on the roster and that would be a big waste of time and IMO it’s good the way it is

    1. No they wouldn’t. Just give them a stock, default voice or make them silent like many gaming protagonists.

      1. Then maybe not you but so many others will complain about it not being the original voices to some even me that wouldn’t be the same

        1. That really makes no sense. They do not even really have to talk. Considering players would make a CAW of an existing wrestler without their original voice.

          1. I understand that but can you imagine undertaker sounding like you or me or any one else some voices just go with their gimmicks and now that that have voiceovers it would be like going backwards for some people with text I don’t even do create a story ever because of just text this is just my opinion though I see where you’re coming from but it wouldn’t be for me

      2. there’s a stock default voice on NBA 2K14 and aside from the scripted events, GM moments, Agent moments, the occasional Lebron talk, and rival talk, you don’t EVER talk to you teammates. the PC talks and the teammate responds with a blank stare and text.

If they truly wanted to make people play MyCareer with the current roster, they would have to include all voices of the current roster, plus wrestler’s that aren’t included in the game. without that, it breaks the immersion and die hard wrestling fans would not be happy about it.

        1. Your logic makes no sense. If you are basically saying the main player says nothing the voices would not need to be included.

          1. The main character does talk. In fact, he interacts to everything with speech. Here, I’ll give you an example so you can understand it a bit more. The MC has expressions to go along with his speech too. Teammates have no expression whatsoever, FYI.

            MC: Hey man, what’s up?
            Teammate: [text]
MC: Oh cool, yeah we kicked butt, huh?
            Teammate: [text]
MC: You want me to wear this clown nose all season, including conferences?
            Teammate: [text]
MC: No way, I ain’t doing that
            Teammate: [text]

See what I mean? 2K doesn’t have their MC talk via text. Since we’re in the current gen of gaming, not many people want silent protagonists anymore. Some JRPG and some FPS aside (arg battlefield 4), with a couple other genres, they always talk and interact with people.

I don’t expect you to understand, this is a well-written article, but if they were include all superstars in the MyCareer mode which is tailored for creating superstars/divas and making them a legend, it’d break the experience for me, personally.

  2. Should have read before posting but it is nice to see people agree with me lol besides if they added superstars we would get the crap we had in the past and no thank you
