WWE 2K15: No MyCareer Mode Facial Scanning Probably a Good Move

WWE 2K15

According to a preview of WWE 2K15’s MyCareer Mode by the Bleacher Report, the game will not have the much ballyhooed player facial scanning for the creation suite that is present in the other 2K Games’ release, NBA 2K15. According to the preview, the feature could potentially be added later, in an update. Honestly, I do not really care whether player facial scanning for Create-a-Wrestler is makes it into WWE 2K15. After seeing some of the results of player facial scanning for NBA 2K15, I am relieved it is not in WWE 2K15. Although the player facial scanning for NBA 2K15 is a revolutionary idea, it appears that the concept is not fully worked out.

When I play a wrestling video game, I am not really that interested in acting out some deep seated fantasy of playing as my own digital avatar. I am not living out a fantasy of becoming a pro wrestler. Instead, I would rather play as my favorite wrestlers. That is one reason why I do not care for using only CAWs for the MyCareer Mode. I simply like using the more polished in-game models rather than created ones. Based on the results I have seen of the facial scanning for NBA 2K15, the technology is not yet there for it to work accurately and satisfyingly. With that in mind, it is probably for the best that a flawed feature is not incorporated into WWE 2K15.

Based on the BR preview, the creation suite has some impressive facial sculpting features. However, I cannot be disappointed by the lack of facial scanning. Unless Visual Concepts can really buckle down and make the facial scanning work really well, I would prefer it if the company would avoid using the feature for WWE 2K15 post-launch. I would rather the team focus on improving in-ring gameplay, adding alternate attire, new wrestling moves and smoothing out any potential bugs. Instead of facial scanning, I would prefer further customization options for CAWs. Also, I would like to see some extensive creation options for rings and arenas–much like in Fire Pro Wrestling Returns. In my humble opinion, Fire Pro Wrestling Returns is the gold standard for customization in a pro wrestling video game. I am not saying facial scanning should never be used for the WWE video game franchise; but wait until the technology comes further along to make the games more polished.

WWE 2K15 hits the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 28. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions hit on November 18. A Windows PC version is also in development.

  1. I hate dumb asses who ever wrote this article is an idiot the face scan on nba doesn’t work because people aren’t patient plus lot of people like there face all funky there doing it on perpous what do folks just write whatever the hell they want without research if the scan does not work because you turned to fast just do it again the process is only 3 minutes

  2. Online website walks into a local arcade and says “hey kid if I give you 50 cents will you write for our website?”

…The story of how Jeffrey Harris got hired to write the article I just read.

  3. My children want to be in the WWE and would love to see their faces in it…..in the meantime training with WAW (UK) is a good place to start!

  4. Pointless article # 2,127 about WWE 2K15. If you’ve got nothing to add to the conversation, don’t write anything.

Better Topic: Why is it that WWE 2K14 sucked and yet 2K was more than happy to give us tons of details and videos to sell us on it, yet they claim 2K15 will be so much better and there is only a 2 minute trailer and few specifics? Do they know that they will be delaying it again and want to save up their pre-order bait OR is the game crap again and they’ve got nothing to show besides upgraded character models.

      1. That’s a lie, obviously you have not seen results from people WHO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. People sit in a dark room and keep their face still expecting for it to work. Of course there are going to be some funny looking faces when people act silly and neglect it. Plus how is adding a new feature bad in any way? Lmao.

        1. Agreed. My dude looks a lot like me in 2K15, I had to redo it a crap ton, but it works and I wont have to do it again.

My only issue is with 2K15 is the voices. There are no “white guy” voices to choose from so the cutscenes look ridiculous. Still it is a good laugh for me.

  5. I TOLD YOU BROTHERS WWE 2K 15 WOULD SUCK AND IT DOES THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT HAVING FACE SCANNING IN THIS GAME ITS A TRAVESTY NOW IMPORTING YOUR OWN LOGOS IS A NEAT IDEAH BUT SADLY WITH ONLY 25 CAW SLOTS AND NO STORY DESIGHNER OR CREATE AN ARENA ITS WORTHLESS I MISS THQ 🙂
