2K Games revealed the full list of details for all the downloadable content and Season Pass content for WWE 2K15. The announcement included the full details for the next three 2K Showcase feuds for the game, as well as three new DLC packs: a WCW DLC pack, an NXT DLC pack; and a New Moves pack. The announcement came with some bad news. The Season Pass, which goes for $24.99, does not include the three above mentioned extra DLC packs. Although the DLC packs are not included with the purchase, they will be available to Season Pass holders at a discounted rate. So basically, if you want to own all that additional content plus the Season Pass, it will cost extra.

First, let me go over what is available in the Season Pass. Former NXT women’s champion and former WWE Divas champion Paige comes with the purchase of the Season Pass. She is exclusive to that purchase. The season pass also includes the Accelerator, normally priced at $1.99. The Accelerator will automatically unlock everything that is available in the game at launch. The DLC 2K Showcase feuds with the Season Pass include: One More Match, showcasing Randy Orton and Christian Cage’s feud in 2011; House of Pain, which focuses on Mark Henry; and Path of the Warrior, highlighting the historic career of the late great WWE Hall of Famer, the Ultimate Warrior.

As a huge fan of the Ultimate Warrior, I am happy to see his career featured for 2K Showcase. Before his tragic passing, Warrior mended fences with Vince McMahon and WWE, so there would be no more revisionist history to make him look bad, such as his depiction in The Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior documentary. The 2K Showcase mode for Warrior includes access to announcer Howard Finkel and Jimmy Hart, Bobby Heenan, Paul Bearer, Sherri, Sid Justice and General Adnan as managers. The 2K Showcase mode for Warrior also confirms that WWE Legends Honkytonk Man, Rick Rude, Macho Man and Colonel Mustafa (Iron Sheik) will all be playable for the game. These are all great additions, and I am glad they made it.

The other two feuds are a gigantic letdown. The Randy Orton/Christian feud in 2011 was a gigantic disappointment and is notable for the terrible way in which Christian was buried after his return to the WWE in 2009, since he worked so hard to work to a main event spot. Not to mention, Christian lost just about every match in that feud with Orton, except one. Considering all the classic feuds throughout history that could have been tapped for 2K Showcase, the choices made here are quite questionable. I like Mark Henry, and I am fine with him getting some type of spotlight for the game. However 2K Games missed the boat here. Sting was finally secured in a game, and it is a waste that there is no 2K Showcase feud with Sting.

Another major disappointment is the lack of inclusion of the three additional DLC packs with the Season Pass. Fans already have to pay $65 for a new game. Although the Season Pass grants a discount for the additional DLC packs, that is a slap in the face. The very term Season Pass implies that you are paying a single price to get all the DLC content that will be released for a game. To price these additional DLC packs separately sounds insane. I am not suggesting fans should boycott the game or the Season Pass. However, I am hard pressed to pay for two extra 2K Showcase feuds that I do not care for when it will not include the three DLC packs I do want to own. I believe 2K Games made a critical error here.

All criticism aside, the content offered by the WCW and NXT Packs is excellent. Diamond Dallas Page, Lex Luger, Bam Bam Bigelow and Lord Steven Regal are all confirmed for the WCW Pack. The NXT pack includes JBL, Adam Rose, Emma and The Ascension. I am ecstatic that Luger and DDP will be in the game, along with Regal in his WCW days. The Ascension is a great team, and the NXT pack features great adds as well.

I am not sure how fans who have been looking forward to the game will feel about the DLC news; but at the end of the day, players get what they pay for and have to vote with their wallets. I believe asking for extra for the other DLC packs goes against what a Season Pass is supposed to be. WWE 2K15 hits the PS4 and Xbox One on November 18. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions hit the shelves on October 28.
