Ubisoft released a new gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Unity. The latest video for the game showcases the open-world activities in 18th century Paris, France. After watching the video (available below), all the exploration options and possible side quests for the game in the open world sandbox of Paris, France make me just as excited to play the actual game.
The new video features commentary by the game’s creative director, Alex Amancio. Some of my favorite aspects of open-world sandbox adventure games are the exploration elements. The backdrop of French Revolution-era Paris is one of the most exciting settings ever for an Assassin’s Creed game. Ubisoft has re-created a painstakingly accurate version of Paris from that era. It is absolutely awesome that players will have the playground of Paris during the French Revolution at their fingertips. The footage from the new gameplay video makes Paris look like a dynamic, interactive environment. Amancio mentions that NPC behavior changes with each individual district of Paris. The NPC activity looks insanely intricate and more complex than any previous Assassin’s Creed game.
The side quests mention murder mysteries. The new video shows that Arno may get involved in a murder mystery involving the re-creation of the famous painting, “The Death of Marat,” by Jacques-Louis David.
That means that Arno will investigate the death of French revolutionary Jean-Paul Marat. That is amazing. The murder mysteries look like a fun addition to the franchise, and they are the side quests I am most excited to play through in Unity.
In the video, Amancio also highlighted a new feature, the Cafe Theatre. The Cafe Theatre appears to be the game’s online social hub. I recall that during the E3 demo presentation, during the course of the game, players could encounter other players online in the Paris sandbox and possibly join in on co-op missions. That is definitely an exciting element, and I hope it plays out well in execution. A new social hub and Assassin base of operations is another good addition to Unity.
Outside of the main campaign, the additional side quests and exploration potential for the game make Unity look like a gigantic, epic-sized game. I am all for these elements. Ubisoft definitely looks like it is pulling out many stops. I can only hope that Unity lives up to the hype because after seeing this video, my excitement has reached a fever pitch.
Assassin’s Creed Unity hits the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on November 11.

literally every site and dev interview, they are like “the world is so huge, there are so many types of side quests to do………then they all mention the same dam thing. Yes, murder mysteries are cool and I guarantee they will be a great addition…..but come on Ubisoft…..stop blowing smoke up our ass and tell us really how many types of side quests there are, because this is all you keep mentioning.
Besides the murder mysteries there are also treasure hunts and assassination jobs, all of which can be completed from various different approaches.
