Despite the issues that are surfacing around WWE 2K15, one thing must be said in favor of the next-gen versions of the game. The new, revamped entrances for the pro wrestlers look absolutely fantastic. WWE and 2K Games have been releasing more and more groups of entrance videos for the game. The latest entrance videos released in the last two weeks, including Daniel Bryan, The Usos, and The Wyatt Family look fantastic, and indicate the potential the series has under 2K Games and Visual Concepts.
First up: The Daniel Bryan video entrance video for the next-gen version came out, and it looks fantastic. This was actually the first, extended and in-depth look at Daniel Bryan’s virtual avatar for the game. Previously, his character was only seen very briefly in trailer clips where the Daniel Bryan model seemed to need more work and polish. The model in the video looks great and much better than what had been glimpsed previously. Daniel Bryan has his trademark, modern entrance and theme. It comes complete with fans chanting “Yes!” His model is wearing the awesome “Respect the Beard” t-shirt. Daniel Bryan is my favorite WWE Superstar, so I am happy these elements were incorporated.
The Usos entrance looks great as well. The entrance video for The Usos even features the brothers Jimmy and Jey Uso performing their signature pre-match chant, the Siva Tau, a war dance from their Samoan heritage. The Usos incorporated the Siva Tau into the duo’s match entrance. The Usos then lead the audience in a chant of “When we say US, you say O!” That is excellent authenticity for the entrances.
My favorite recent entrance video is Bray Wyatt and The Wyatt Family. The Wyatt Family’s entrance actually begins with a live video clip for the Titantron screen, showing the Wyatt trio. Bray Wyatt whispers, “We’re here,” and blows out his lantern. Mark Crozer’s creepy, moody theme for Bray Wyatt, “Live in Fear,” plays. The most amusing thing about the video is that the developers incorporated fans waving their lit up cell phones in the arena for the entrance. Again, the developers have created a startlingly awesome and realistic authenticity in the entrance videos.
If nothing else, the revamped entrances and character models for WWE 2K15 look exceptional. If there are major problems with the game at launch, hopefully 2K Games will take feedback into account and make a superior installment for 2K16.
WWE 2K15 finally hits the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18 in North America and November 21 in Europe.
