EA Sports UFC: Content Update 4 Breakdown

EA Sports UFC

EA Sports revealed the latest details for the upcoming free content update No. 4 for EA Sports UFC. The latest content update includes the honorable mention from my top 5 wish list for DLC fighters for the game, Hector Lombard. Lombard is one of three new fighters available for the update, along with some other new features. I am happy to see that the roster for EA Sports UFC is greatly expanding from what was available at launch. Not to mention, all the new additional fighters are free, which is a positive.

Hector Lombard is the former Bellator welterweight champion and a former Olympic judoka. His UFC record currently sits at 3-2. Lombard last fought at UFC 171 last March and bested former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields by unanimous decision. His next fight is at UFC 182 in January against the returning Josh Burkman. Lombard is currently ranked No. 6 in the UFC welterweight division. Needless to say, he is a great addition to the roster.

Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez finally makes his EA Sports UFC debut. Sanchez bested Kenny Florian to become the middleweight winner of the inaugural season of the hit reality series, The Ultimate Fighter. Sanchez has fought in the UFC for the last decade. During his career, he moved down to welterweight and then lightweight. Sanchez managed to become a contender to then champion BJ Penn’s UFC Lightweight Championship, but he came up short in that fight. Since that time, Sanchez attempted to move back up to welterweight before ultimately settling once again at lightweight. Last year, Sanchez’s battle with Gilbert Melendez at UFC 166 was considered one of the best fights of the year. Sanchez is a fan favorite in the UFC due to his exciting brawls. In addition, his eccentric antics and behavior entertain fans. Also, his chanting of “Yes!” before fights later inspired WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan. Bryan adopted the chants, which helped him become one of the most popular personalities in the WWE. Sanchez’s model features the Mohawk he has sported in recent bouts.

Finally, the last new wrestler for the content update is Mike Chiesa. Since debuting in the UFC, Chiesa has amassed a 4-2 record inside the Octagon. Chiesa was the winner of season 15 of The Ultimate Fighter. He was a huge underdog going into finale, but he submitted the betting favorite Al Iaquinta to win the season. I am a big fan of Chiesa, who definitely deserves a spot in the game. He is an entertaining fighter to watch, and his character model even incorporates his trademark beard.

The latest content update features new gameplay options. With the update, Gegard Mousasi is playable in the middleweight division. Mousasi made his UFC debut in the light heavyweight division, but he has recently moved down to middleweight. So, that is a more realistic and career accurate option to use for Mousasi. The new update made tweaks to the game’s Stamina system with “Stamina Burn” and “Stamina Regeneration.” It is more realistic when MMA sims incorporate Stamina systems, so I will be curious to see how well the new Stamina features work in action.

EA Sports UFC is currently available for Xbox One and PS4.
