Ubisoft has not let up with the promotional machine for Assassin’s Creed Unity, releasing a hefty extended gameplay trailer, “Assassin’s Creed Unity 101.” The new video provides a nice overview of the features available in the game. After watching the recent Time Anomaly trailer, my excitement level was significantly raised, and the latest Unity 101 trailer raises the bar. As of now, Unity is without a doubt one of my most anticipated titles for the next-gen consoles, and for 2014 overall.

The video sheds more light on the Time Anomaly segment of the game. The revelation of the Time Anomaly feature for Unity blew my mind. The video clarifies that at points in the game, Arno or the protagonist using the Animus and re-living Arno through genetic memory, is transported to Paris, France during World War II. I originally thought that the time period was during World War I and the Zeppelin raids. It is actually during the World War II era and the Nazi Germany occupation of Paris. Based on the new video, I wonder if the Time Anomaly segment is limited to this one section. I would like to explore more of Paris during World War II. However, my assumption is that the Time Anomaly during World War II is limited to this one section and climbing the Eiffel Tower. I wonder if the Time Anomaly will cause Arno to drop into other more modern eras, or if it is just one quick stop into World War II.

The video features a more comprehensive look at the customization system. It looks like Assassin’c Creed Unity will offer more customization options than ever before for both Arno and the co-op Assassin characters. In terms of the co-op players, the video reveals that each Assassin serves a separate role for his mission rather than having a rigid Assassin class type. I like the idea that a four-man Assassin team can have Assassins with similar attributes; yet each one has different tasks for a particular mission. The tasks include healer, stealth, attack, etc. Enemy AI has new features depicted in the video as well. Enemies have stronger AI now and will split up and question civilians to locate Arno.

Ubisoft has done a good job of escalating the videos and trailers for Assassin’s Creed Unity with each release. Assassin’s Creed Unity hits the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on November 11 next week.
