Updated Most Anticipated Games of 2015 List

Batman Arkham Knight

About six months ago, I compiled a list of my most anticipated video game titles of 2015. However, in the past six months, certain things have changed. Some games were delayed and other key games were announced. In addition, I had the opportunity to sample certain games and take another look at them. To celebrate the end of 2014, I decided to provide a new updated list of my most anticipated games for next year:

HONORABLE MENTION: Quantum Break

Much like the Uncharted games, the look and style of Quantum Break is very appealing. I enjoy involved, cinematic plots that mix in solid, effective gameplay elements. So far, Quantum Break definitely appears to be one of those titles. The gameplay videos have expanded the world of the story and have really pulled me in. I am excited to learn more and dig into this game.

5. Mortal Kombat X

So far, I have really enjoyed what has come out of Mortal Kombat X. The new Fatality moves are hilariously over-the-top. The next-gen graphics and visuals look immaculate. NetherRealm Studios has tweaked the gameplay, incorporating the interactive backgrounds of the fight levels, in an awesome way. NetherRealm has done a great job of updating the classic fighting franchise for a new generation. Mortal Kombat X looks to advance the new era for the franchise.

4. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Unfortunately, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is experiencing another delay. I am not dissuaded by my excitement for the game. It looks like it will be an amazing, deeply thematic, complex, mature and immersive role-playing game experience. I am still very excited about the game. However, a couple announcements caused it to get bumped down a few slots because some titles simply appeal to me more.

3. The Order: 1886

[youtube url=”http://youtu.be/XQzm9lwc2Tk”]

I was already on board for The Order: 1886 because of the great scenario and even better setting, mixing in Victorian London with a Steampunk bent. Since June, I have gotten the chance to play two playable demos for the game. The one I played at PlayStation Experience was fantastic and gave me a much better feeling about the upcoming game.

2. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

[youtube url=”http://youtu.be/ut4ICfFZPNc”]

Uncharted 4 was announced after I released my initial list. So far, every indication is that the game is due out in 2015. However, I write the new list completely aware that its 2015 release date could always change. Uncharted is one of my most favorite modern video game series. Uncharted really got me into online multiplayer gameplay and showed me how much fun it could be. The series goes next-gen with Uncharted 4, which like it could be a fitting ending for the franchise. The new gameplay footage shown at PlayStation Experience looked incredible. It appears that the developers at Naughty Dog have really brought their A-game for the sequel. Uncharted 4 provides a visceral style that make me feel like a director of my own personal Indiana Jones movie. It evokes a feeling in me that few other games have ever captured.

1. Batman: Arkham Knight

[youtube url=”http://youtu.be/xN5YBsKBIVA”]

As a kid, I was obsessed with comic books and superheroes, especially Batman. As an adult…well, I guess not much has changed. Well, actually, something has. There is a fantastic 3D video game series based on the Dark Knight. Rocksteady has released some new gameplay videos for Arkham Knight that look unbelievable and utterly fantastic. The long-awaited conclusion to the Arkham trilogy is something I can hardly wait to play. Last June, there was still a possibility that the game would have a 2014 release. Instead, the game was delayed almost a year to June 2015. The new trailers have shown that the extra wait will more than likely be worth it. It appears that Arkham Knight will be a game that completely takes advantage of next-gen technology.
