CD Project Red has released a new gameplay video for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The latest video offers a nice amount of gameplay and combat, but also equal amounts of story and plot details that set the stage for the mythology for the final installment of The Witcher video game trilogy. CD Projekt Red is aiming to create an immersive RPG experience unlike anything seen or played before. Based on this latest video, CD Projekt Red is on the right track for what could very well be one of, if not the best, game releases of 2015.

One cutscene sequence shows Geralt of Rivia going to an outpost. After having a humorous tete-a-tete with a couple of inept guards, Geralt visits the leader of the military outpost. The military leader is actually having an interesting conversation with the guard.  He is speaking to a peasant about how much grain the man can offer the army. However, the leader does not make cruel demands. He politely asks a peasant farmer how much the peasant village can spare the army while keeping enough for the village. Then, the leader asks for a lower amount than the peasant offers. The level of complexity and pathos from mere supporting characters portrays the deep and interesting a world in which the game resides. Interestingly, the scene more shows that Geralt is searching for his long lost lover, Yennefer of Vengerberg. CD Projekt Red previewed an opening CG cutscene for the game that shows Geralt and one of his Witcher comrades tracking Yennefer. It will be interesting to see what happens when Geralt is finally reunited with Yennefer, especially after he has had a romantic relationship with Triss Merigold. Triss happens to be a sorceress friend of Yennefer, so it could get awkward.

Another sequence shows Geralt going into battle with one of his Witcher brethren, Vesemir. Vesemir appears to be an older fellow, but he is still lively. I am happy to see Geralt interacting with other Witcher comrades in the game. Geralt and the other Witchers appear to be dying out, so they will probably have to band together to take a last stand against the Wild Hunt.

The release of the game is still some months away, but the latest video continues to build my anticipation even higher. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt hits the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC on May 19.
