Last year, when I wrote my Mortal Kombat X Top 5 Character Wishlist last year, number 2  on my list was the Predator alien creature from the Predator movie franchise. A new report from Videogamer.com makes me hopeful that the inclusion of the Predator in Mortal Kombat X could become a reality. I have no idea if the rumor and the source for the report are true. The report indicates that Predator would be featured as a playable character in a DLC pack for Mortal Kombat X later this year. It is entirely possible.. Horror movie icon Freddy Krueger was featured in Mortal Kombat 9. Kratos from the God of War franchise was featured in the PlayStation 3 version of the title. Not to mention, developer Ed Boon has hinted at the inclusion of Predator in the game on social media.

The report also claimed that Carl Weathers offered to lend his likeness to the game as the character of Dillon from the original Predator movie. That sounds a bit bizarre, and I have no idea if that is true. Carl Weathers is an amazing actor, and I loved all the characters in the original Predator. So, if the developers thought it would be cool to include him in the game, then hey, I am all for that. The rumor does not really indicate if the developers were looking to put him in the game; but if Weathers’ Dillon is in the game, that work needed to be done quite some time ago. The game comes out in less than three months.

The Predator is the guest character I really want to see the most for Mortal Kombat X. The Predator is a dilettante hunter. The creature wants to hunt the most dangerous game. The Kombatants of Mortal Kombat are most dangerous and formidable fighters from multiple realms and dimensions. From a story and plot standpoint, it makes perfect sense why the Predator would want to hunt the fighters of Mortal Kombat. In addition, the Predator alien is a classic throwback character from a bygone era. The violence, gore and mayhem the Predator could provide would be right in line with Mortal Kombat X.

With the release date fast approaching, hopefully NetherRealm Studios reveals the identities of the rest of the Kombatant roster and the DLC guest stars soon. Mortal Kombat X hits the shelves on April 14. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
