Speculation has been raging online in recent weeks about the next characters to be announced for Mortal Kombat X. So far, NetherRealm Studios has confirmed about 14 Kombatants for the roster. Ten of the characters that have been revealed are returning characters from previous games. One of those characters, Goro, is a pre-order bonus DLC character. So far, only four brand new characters have been announced for Mortal Kombat X. There are supposed to be 12 new characters in the game, so that means NetherRealm has yet to announce eight brand-new characters. Lazygamer.net provided a report showcasing a new character introduced in the Mortal Kombat X prequel comic book series. This character’s name is Erron Black. If Erron Black is a new character for Mortal Kombat X, at least he has a unique look.

Black is introduced in Issue No. 4 of the comic book series. Black is a deadly warrior under the employ of Kotal Kahn. He arrives in the issue because he is after classic Kombatant Mileena. Apparently, Mileena is in league with the Red Dragon, and Kotal Kahn wants to eradicate them, using Erron Black and D’Vorah. Considering that D’Vorah is already confirmed as a playable character for the game, it is possible that Black would be a new character because he is working for Kotal Kahn. Kahn is yet another new character already confirmed for Mortal Kombat X. Kotal Kahn’s mention of Mileena is interesting. I wonder if that means that Mileena could be another character making an appearance. Mileena’s sister Kitana is confirmed as a Kombatant.

Black has an interesting unique look. He does not look like a random throwaway character. However, Black could very well turn out to be just that. He resembles a gunslinger with an interesting mask, a cool hat, and a poncho similar to Clint Eastwood’s Man With No Name character from Sergio Leone’s classic spaghetti westerns.  Again, it is purely speculation that Black is a future Kombatant; but since the comic is introducing a new character, it is exciting to speculate. Since Black is introduced as a deadly warrior serving Kotal Kahn, it lends credence to the idea he could be in the game. That is fun to discuss. As the aforementioned report indicated, Erron Black could very well resemble characters such as William Stryker in the Mortal Kombat series, or Deathstroke in Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Mortal Kombat X is due out April 14. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
