One thing can definitely be said for the Bungie and Destiny fan community: the fan community does not lacking creativity and ingenuity. If the fan community for Destiny has some criticisms about the game, the community brings out those criticisms or arguments in a fun or truly creative fashion. YouTube user Micah Bell released a hilarious parody video for Destiny called “Destiny – ‘What IF?'” The video showcases a bunch of Guardians sitting in the lounge in the Tower and shooting the breeze about things that would make Destiny better.

The great thing about this video is that it is filled with constructive information and it is not a hate-filled rant. Even better, the video shows concrete examples of ideas that could make the game better. The creators of the video actually even edited together footage of how these ideas would actually take place if they are adapted into the game.

In defense of Bungie, the company is very open to listening to the fan community. Bungie constantly updates and fine tunes the game. Elements that fans wanted and requested were later incorporated in the game with updates and download patches. That means that Bungie does a fairly decent job of listening to the fans and making changes based on their widespread requests. Case in point: the recent integration of matchmaking for Weekly Heroic Strikes. Prior to that, Bungie added optional team chats, buying materials at the Tower vendors and much more.

The “What IF” video does a good job of addressing some of the pressing issues of the game and some fun ways to fix it. The two ideas I like the most are shaders for weapons and then customizing your armor. The ultimate punchline shows one of the Guardians pointing out how the game crashes and then lists an animal as the name of the error. It is hilarious. The network crashes for the game are insanely frustrating. I really appreciate that the video expressed that frustration in an amusing way. A Guardian character in the video is discussing the issue; suddenly he disappears and is morphed into a weasel.

At the very end, the video has a message saying, “We still love Bungie.” I take that message to mean that the people who made the video do not have any hate or malice against Bungie or Destiny. These players would simply like to see some progressive changes for the better. It would serve Bungie well to check out this video.
