NetherRealm Studios recently confirmed some of the details for the DLC releases for Mortal Kombat X. In addition, Warner Bros. Interactive released a new teaser trailer (available below) that confirmed that Friday the 13th franchise star and horror movie icon Jason Voorhees will be a playable guest star character for the game. I was happy to see the Jason Voorhees reveal. He was No. 5 on my character wish list for the game. NetherRealm confirmed some other features for the Kombat Pack that I wanted to break down for Mortal Kombat X.

Jason Voorhees as a special guest was pretty much a no brainer for Mortal Kombat X. Nightmare on Elmstreet horror movie monster Freddy Krueger was a playable guest star for Mortal Kombat 9. Making the Friday the 13th boogeyman the next playable guest star character for the game was obviously the next best step for the franchise. Would I have liked to have seen guest star characters such as Spawn or the Predator creature from the Predator franchise? Yes. However, the game probably cannot have a ton of guest star characters. If Jason Voorhees is the only one, that is not so bad. The Kombat Pack is supposed to feature three other new characters for the game, so it will be interesting to find out who else will join the Mortal Kombat X Kombatant roster.

In addition, NetherRealm Studios confirmed a Samurai Pack for the game that is included with the Kombat Pack. The Samurai Pack features alternate costume skins for three playable characters who are already on the roster: Kenshi; Shinnok; and Kitana. This basically laid to rest any of the rumors that Kenshi and Shinnok were playable characters. Previously, there was an image leak of Kenshi as a playable character for the Mortal Kombat X mobile game version. Shinnok was shown in footage for the story mode in the trailers. At least this shows that both characters will actually be playable for fans and not just NPCs. I assume this means that Shinnok will be the main mastermind and big bad for the game. At least, that is the assumption going by the end of the story mode for Mortal Kombat 9. I have always been a fan of Kenshi and his cool look, so I am ecstatic he is now a part of the roster.

Mortal Kombat X hits the shelves on April 14. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC.
