Recently, Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios revealed all the planned downloadable content for the Kombat Pack season pass for the game. There will be several separate character and skin packs released for the game. However, perhaps Warner Bros. Interactive jumped the gun yet again here, as the complete DLC summary for the Kombat Pack contains some revealing information.

Specifically, the Klassic Pack No. 1 release will feature a classic DLC skin for none other than franchise Liu Kang. This is significant because Liu Kang died in Mortal Kombat 9. However, death has rarely stopped anyone for good in the Mortal Kombat universe. However, since Liu Kang has an alternate classic skin, Liu Kang will be in the game in some form. In Mortal Kombat 9, things ended badly between Raiden and Liu Kang. Therefore, it raises the question: will Liu Kang still be fighting on the side of good for EarthRealm; or will he be brainwashed into siding with Quan Chi and Shinnok? Warner Bros. Interactive and NetherRealm Studios had yet to formally announce Liu Kang in the roster. So, apparently someone in the PR department messed up here by informing everyone about an alternate skin for Liu Kang ahead of his official roster reveal.

Another interesting reveal is that there will be an alternate “Carl Weathers” skin for Jax. For those who are wondering what that means, actor Carl Weathers was one of the co-stars of the 1987 original Predator movie. Carl Weathers, played George Dillon, is one of the members of the unit that is hunted by the Predator monster. A while back, there was talk of Weathers’ Dillon character appearing in the game. So, it appears that turned out to be accurate. However, this news means that Weathers/Dillon will in fact be an alternate skin for Jax Briggs. I am curious how this will look. Will Jax simply have a costume that looks like Dillon from Predator, or will it fully be Weathers’ likeness of the character? I am curious about this because in a previous NetherRealm Studios release, Injustice: Gods Among Us, some of the alternate skins for characters gave players completely different characters. Green Lantern had the John Stewart Green Lantern skin which turned Hal Jordan into John Stewart and gave him alternate voice-over dialogue to boot. I wonder if Carl Weathers offered some of his vocal talent in addition to signing off on his name and likeness for the game.

Mortal Kombat X is due out on April 14 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will hit on June 30.
