It is nearly April. That means convention season is about to pick up in a big way. With the start of convention season comes the buildup for 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo in June. Thus far, I have organized a list of games I would like to play the most at the gaming convention this year, that is if I had the choice of any five games I could play in-depth at the convention.
HONORABLE MENTION: Rise of the Tomb Raider
The story of the new rebooted Lara Croft: Tomb Raider franchise continues with Rise of the Tomb Raider. At E3 2014, there was a nice reveal trailer. I want to see how the gameplay will be different for Lara Croft for Xbox One and how the story will progress. I am hoping something will be available to play at the convention.
5. Just Cause 3
I really do love me some Just Cause 2. So far, what I have seen from Just Cause 3 looks very promising. I cannot wait to see what Avalanche Studios has in store for the glorious third installment of their action-adventure franchise. Based on the images and reports I have read, the action and explosions have been amped up. It looks like the combat will be more fun and insane than ever. This type of game is right up my alley, and I expect the demo to hopefully be playable at E3.
4. Quantum Break
I am listing Quantum Break here because it really has no release date set yet. It could be out in late 2015 or even launch in 2016 for all I know. I am looking forward to the next game from Remedy Entertainment, which looks like a fun cinematic, action-adventure third-person shooter. Some nice footage has been released of the game so far, but I actually want to get my hands on this title and see how it actually plays for real.
3. Visceral Games’ Untitled Star Wars Project
Is it somewhat ambitious to want to see this game have some sort of gameplay available at E3 2015? Yes. Do I care? Nope. This is really the only new Star Wars game I care about at this point. I really could care less about the reveals for the new Star Wars Battlefront at Star Wars Celebration 2015. The game I really want to learn more about is the currently in-development Star Wars project by Visceral Games. Why? Amy Hennig is the Creative Director for the game. She is one of the visionaries behind the Uncharted franchise, and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for the new era of Star Wars game for the next-generation of consoles.
2. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
My favorite game in the franchise remains the first Metal Gear Solid, with the Gameboy Color version coming in as second. That said, I am looking forward to finally playing what looks like it could really be the final Metal Gear Solid game produced and developed by Hideo Kojima. This looks like it will be the final story that bridges the loop of the prequel Metal Gear Solid games to the very first Metal Gear Game in the 1980s.
1. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
Naughty Dog had an extended gameplay demo for Uncharted 4 that was unveiled at the PlayStation Experience last December. It is time to finally give players a crack at playing the game. Naughty Dog has already delayed the game to 2016. I am sure giving players a chance to finally play the game and realize how awesome it is will soften the blow of frustration of the game’s delay. Uncharted 4 is one big reason I bought a PlayStation 4 console. If I could have my choice of getting to play one demo at E3 this year, Uncharted 4 would be it.
