Double-merle dogs are highly valued but very difficult to breed. They can die at birth and if they survive they usually have deformities, health problems like going deaf and blind, or very short life expectancy. Most people would never agree to take care of such a puppy, which is why what Dave Meinert did deserves so much more respect....
